GTA: Vice City holds a fond place in many players' hearts, but even with the updated versions released by Rockstar it's still looking rather dated in Not so in Vice Cry: Remastered, a port of the popular Vice Cry mod for Vice City, which gives the fictional Miami a beautiful makeover complete with rippling waters and shimmering sunsets. As well as proper mapped roads, car generators, and working traffic lights, there are new missions dropping which make this so much more than just a cosmetic makeover.
It's definitely worth popping on a Hawaiian shirt and heading back to the '80s to check this one out. Mod: Intensity ENB. Abrams movie just as much as a cyberpunk flick. All the best cities are underwater. Think about it; Atlantis, Rapture, that one from The Phantom Menace… okay, maybe not all the best cities, but a fair few of them at least. Seriously, you can try it now with this mod, which brings in a Tsunami to unleash waves of salty sea water upon the town, where only the highest skyscrapers can be seen above the surface.
Mod: GTA Realism. It adds a host of small but clever details to GTA 5 that are designed to make everything feel that little bit more tactile and naturalistic. While GTA has always been great for causing all sorts of mayhem, it never quite comes close to the sort of sandbox madness you can generate in equally outrageous open world series Just Cause.
It even makes cars explode whenever you jump out of them, which is great for dealing with all those pesky roadblocks. They say the best way to defeat the enemy is to know the enemy, so why not sign up with the Los Santos Police Department and walk a mile in the shoes of a local cop for the day?
There are detailed missions, police-themed weapons and vehicles, and customisation options for you to tuck into to get the full LSPD experience. Mod: Prison Mod. I know Grand Theft Auto has a loose conception of the notion of justice, but surely some judicial system is in place in Los Santos? Or, you know, you could just serve your time and try to come out a changed man? Once that's done, click Continue, and OpenIV will start searching for the encryption key, and then load a little file explorer page of its own, dissecting your GTA V installation.
You should be prompted to create a Mods folder during this process, which you'll want to agree to. For hijinks out in the open world, there are Strangers and Freaks missions , the military base and spaceship parts to find.
Want to explore more beyond the main game? This tool mods your installation of GTA 5 so that it can read and activate custom script functions. Download the ZIP from the web page, extract it to your desktop, open the bin folder, and drag the contents into your GTA 5 installation folder. The Native Trainer file is a little mod menu and is optional. On the page, download the ZIP of the latest version and follow the same process as above to add the extracted files to your game directory.
From there - the modding world is now your oyster, but just make sure to consult any documentation and scan the files with your antivirus before you install anything just to make sure. A fresh install should wipe your mods if you need to rollback to a clean version of GTA 5, but you can also remove specific mods that you don't need using the file management system.

Want to dine at Burgershot or Up-N-Atom? The Working Restaurants script adds the ability to snarf a quick, health-restoring meal at nine different restaurants. Navigate to the new icons on your map, stand under the yellow arrow by the front door, and chow down. Dining only costs a couple bucks, fills your health, and advances the clock by a half-hour. Feel like doing some hitchhiking? The Simple Passenger script lets you climb into NPC-driven cars, but instead of dumping the driver on the street you can ride as a passenger.
Set waypoints for the driver and they'll bring you there, or let them decide where to go. You can also enable drive-by shootings, and if you get tired of being a passenger, you can switch to the driver's seat with a keypress. You won't look like Superman—not yet anyway—but you can fly like him. The Nice Fly script lets you sail through the air—in directions other than down—without having to steal a jet first. The mod requires you to be wearing a parachute, ironically, though you won't need to pull the cord.
Because you can fly. Here's a video. You've punished random pedestrians in all sorts of horrible, often lethal ways, but sometimes it's fun to just freak 'em out by flopping all over them with the Simple Ragdoll [.
NET] mod. This mod lets you turn your limbs to jelly whenever you want even in cutscenes. It's a good way to amuse yourself, too, especially during lengthy exposition scenes. GTA games always have great radio stations, but it's sort of disappointing that you can only listen to them while in a vehicle or one of your houses.
The Mobile Radio script lets you listen to your favorite tunes on foot as well. Just imagine your phone came with earbuds. A lot of thought has been put into GTA 5's cars, but what about the go-juice that keeps them running? Using the Fuel script means your car will slowly run out of gas as you drive. It also adds a gas tank meter just above your minimap to let you know when you're low on petrol, which you can refill by visiting a gas station or using a jerry can.
Pop the hood and trunk, signal turns, turn on the hazard lights and even the interior light. I know most of this sounds cosmetic, but there are some real in-game perks, such as the ability to leave the engine running and the driver's side door open, useful for quick getaways.
You can also toggle cruse control so you don't have to lean on the gas pedal constantly during long drives. Want to play with the ocean level in GTA 5? This water mod has got you covered, literally, by giving you the ability to drown Los Santos in seawater. You can also remove the ocean altogether and drive around on the dry seabed.
Using the experimental 'crazy waves' feature may cause game crashes, so make sure you read the instructions on the mod page carefully. There are lots and lots and lots of car mods for GTA 5 which, yeah, is not surprising.
There are a good handful of motorbikes, helicopters, and airplanes too but really there are just reams of cars. We've picked out some of the humorous and silly options here just for fun. Rest assured though, if there's a true-to-life car you're dying to drive in-game, chances are someone's uploaded it in the vehicles section of 5mods. These and more await those who enjoy the journey more than the destination.
VanillaWorks extended pack adds a massive number of extra vehicles to the base game. Bikes, sports cars, Formula 1 cars, Humvees, trucks, rally cars, classic cars, even yellow school-buses. There are no official tools for creating mods, nor is there an official way to add existing mods to your game.
So if you have mods installed it is extremely important that you either play offline, or ensure that all mods are switched off before heading Online. Many mods have the ability to be switched off built-in, but not all of them.
